Meet the Director: Jeffrey Vinokur

UCLA Biofuels Researcher & The Dancing Scientist™

Jeffrey Vinokur holds an M.S. in Biochemistry from the University of California – Los Angeles and is currently conducting renewable energy research for his PhD work. He started Brain Mogul Education in 2012, but is perhaps better known from his network television appearances (video below), touring shows, and 20+ million YouTube views. “Wowing” Kids Through An Understanding of Entertainment.

Science demos by themselves are entertaining, but why stop there. Jeffrey Vinokur is known to incorporate elements such as music, dancing, competitions, and comedy. Many of those elements are now part of the Tournament of Science assembly and can be seen in his television & media appearances: NBC’s Today Show, ABC’s The View, The Queen Latifah Show (CBS), America’s Got Talent, Discovery Channel’s Daily Planet, Hallmark Channel, The Weather Channel, Fox News Channel, and 20+ million YouTube views. Tournament of Science™ is based on Jeff Vinokur’s National Tours

“So You Think You Can Do Science” is the name of the Vinokur’s first touring school show that was presented over 250 times. Part of his original show involved a competition between 3 student volunteers, and that part was always an audience favorite. Vinokur created the Tournament of Science™ based on the the original competition and audience feedback. The new show has 18 volunteers instead of 3 & nearly every experiment is different!
